MIDNIGHT ATTACK
LONELY BOY IN GARAGE A vivid story of how he was overcome by motor bandits while on duty at a garage at Dartford, Kent, was told recently by 15-year-old Charles Harrison. He said it was about midnight when a saloon car drove up. There were four men inside. One of them asked for a bulb for a ' rear light, and, after being supplied, tested it and said, "That's all right." He then offered the boy a pound note. Harrison said that the men tied his overalls round his head and an airline round his arms. One of them rifled the till of £8 10s, and they all then made good their escape. *•' The man offered me a pound note," said Harrison. " I went to the till, and another man who had been sitting on the counter, jumped down. He grabbed me, put one arm round my throat and one round my back. The other man was trying to open the till, but he could not do it. He said: ''lf you don't open it I will shoot you.' "I opened the till and the man took the notes and silver. My overalls were tied round my head and the airline round my arm. The man who had tin money held me while the other one dashed out to start the car." " I was then left. By the time I got loose I could just see the car vanishing up the road. I went to a shop next door and the police were phoned for." Harrison, who is only oft tall, was the only one at the garage. He walked home afterwards. When his mother asked him what happened this morning, he said, " Oh, it was only just a hold-up."
