CITY POLICE COURT

Monday, November 4. (Before Mr H. W. Bundle, S.M.) DRUNKENNESS. Charged with drunkenness, John Willis and John Hallidav were each fined 10s, in default 24 hours imprisonment— A first offender, who was similarly charged, was fined 20s, with a like alternative. MOTORIST CHARGED. Alfred Edward Arundale, for whom Mr O. G. Stevens appeared, was charged with being intoxicated while in charge of a motor car.—Senior Sergeant Packer stated that the accused had been arrested a week previously on a similar charge and had been remanded on bail until November 7, one of the conditions being that he must not drive a car in the meantime. He had, however, been found drunk in charge of a car early on the previous morning, and the police wished him to he remanded on this charge also, so that the two counts could be heard together.—Mr Stevens said that in the circumstances he did not propose asking for bail. —His Worship: I would not grant bail. —The accused was ordered to be remanded in custody until November 7.
