GREAT SHOCK TO AUSTRALIA SYDNEY, November 3. (Received Nov. 3, at 10 p.m.) Cameron’s death caused a great shock in cricketing circles in Australia. He was regarded as the most popular figure during the last South African tour of
Australia, and he was invaluable to his side both for wicketkpeping and batting. A few days ago a message was received from South Africa saying he was ill with enteric fever and it was doubtful whether ho would be able to play against the Australians in the forthcoming tour. The M.C.C. captain, E. T. Holmes, on his arrival at Fremantle last Tuesday, described Cameron as the best wicketkeeper in the world.
