IMPERIAL AIRWAYS THE NEW FLYING BOATS (United Press Association) (By Electric Telegraph—Copyright) LONDON, October 31. Sir Eric Geddes, presiding at the annual meeting of Imperial Airways, said the company had agreed, with the Government on the principal features of a long-term contract to replace the existing agreements when they lapsed. The new flying boats for Empire routes would provide sleeping accommodation, flying 24 hours and stopping only to refuel. Subject to the provision ,of suitable ground organisation the speed of the new aircraft would enable services to Australia, South Africa, and India in seven, four and three days respectively. Referring to the Atlantic service, Sir Eric Geddes said in aduition to the composite aircraft, a normal flying boat was under construction with which it was hoped experimentally to cross the Atlantic in 1936.
