HOUSING CONDITIONS

SURVEY OF LONDON AREA (British Official Wireless) RUGBY, October 31. (Received Nov. 1, at 5.5 p.m.) The first stage of the survey in the area of the London County Council under the Housing Act will be begun to-morrow, and it is expected to take six weeks to complete. Between 600,000 and 700,000 houses must be visited and particulars taken of the number of rooms and occupants. In the second stage of the survey doubtful cases will be re-examined and the dimensions of rooms ascertained where necessary. The temporary staff of enumerators, survey assistants and clerks engaged in the big task numbers 1300.
