DUNEDIN JUNIOR ORCHESTRA

This orchestra will hold the sixth concert of its third season in the Concert Chamber, Town Hall, on Wednesday at 8 p.m. This young organisation has made great progress under the baton of Mr C. Rov Spaekman, and there is no doubt that it has come to stay. The members of the orchestra are receiving a valuable and pleasurable training in orchestral work, the practical worth of which should be made clear in a few years' time. The programme that will be presented on Wednesday is an attractive one and should appeal to the public. It includes the overture " Idomeneus" (Mozart), " Coppellia Ballet " (Delibes) ; "Minuet from Sonata in G" (Beethoven), "Grand March" from " Tannhauser " (Wagner), " Military Polonaise" (Chopin), "Fantasia of Sea Chanties " (Spaekman), " Barcarole " (Offenbach), and "Gavotte" from "Mignon" (Thomas). Assisting at the concert will be Mr J. Simpson (tenor), who will sing "0 Vision Entrancing" (Goring Thomas) and "On with the Motley," from " Pagliacci" (Leoncavallo). Dorothy Smaill, a member of the orchestra, will play a flute solo, "Vogel Sang" (With Popp). The box plan is now open at Begg's.
