TASMANIAN OUTRAGE
BOMB THROWN IN PRISON ONLY SLIGHT DAMAGE HOB ART, October 31. Another bomb was thrown in Hobart gaol. Nobody was injured and a wall was slightly damaged. It is the fourth occasion in recent years that explosives have been hurled by a prisoner. Despite diligent searching by the gaol staff, it is thought that the ingredients for bombmaking are still secreted in the gaol.' On September 2 a gelignite bomb was thrown from an upstairs cell, exploding two yards behind Warder Pardoe. It tore a hole in the asphalted exercise yard of the gaol. Pardoe, who is a special search officer, was not hurt. The bomb was crudely constructed. It is believed that a deliberate attempt was made on Pardoe's life.
