ALLEGED CONSPIRACY
FOUR PERSONS CHARGED EVIDENCE FOR THE CROWN (Per , United Press Association.) AUCKLAND, October 31. Arising out of an incident in a city fiat when two men allegedly discovered a third matt in compromising circumstances with a woman, four persons were placed on trial to-day before Mr Justice Fair on a charge of conspiracy and also of obtaining £75 by a false pretence. The accused are Reginald Merton Semb, aged 29, represented by Mr Slipper; Mattlew Edward Daubney, aged 22, represented by Mr Duggan; Mina Elizabety Mary Armstrong, aged 23, represented by Mr Clarke, and Peggy Jackson, aged 27, represented by Mr Sullivan. At the request of Mr Hubble, Crown Prosecutor, his Honor directed that the name of the chief witness should not be published. Mr Hubble said the alleged false pretence was a representation by Daubney that he was the husband cf the woman Armstrong, and when "Mr X" was found in the bedroom by the two male accused Daubney said he intended to proceed for a divorce and would name "Mr X" as co-respondent. Evidence on the lines of the Crown's opening was given and the hearing was then adjourned.
