The L.M.S. Railway has completed the first of a series of sleeping cars, which are claimed to be the most luxurious yet built, and are intended for the overnight services between London and Scotland. To reduce track noises the underside of the floor of each oar is sprayed with nearly half an inch of asbestos, which acts as an anti-noise "blanket"; the floors are covered with layers of cork erey felt, linoleum, and carpet, which help to deaden exterior sound.
