ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES
BOARDING MOVING TRAMCAR MAN DIES IN HOSPITAL John Garland, aged 49 years, who fell whilst attempting to board a moving tramcar in Princes street on Tuesday afternoon and was later admitted to Hospital suffering from injuries to the head, died in the institution shortly after 3 o'clock yesterday morning. An inquest was opened at the Hospital later in the day, Mr J. K. Bartholomew, S.M., sitting as coroner, and after evidence of identification had been taken, was adjourned sine die. DEATH IN AMBULANCE WOMAN CYCLIST IN COLLISION. (Per United Press Association) CHRISTCHURCH, October 30. Marion Howell, single, aged 23, died this morning from injuries which she suffered when, her cycle collided with a motor cycle ridden by James Alexander Nicholl. The collision happened this morning at the corner of Harman street and Lincoln road at 7.45. Miss Howell suffered head injuries, and died in the ambulance while being taken to Christchurch Public Hospital. Nicholl suffered minor injuries.
