A DISASTROUS FIRE
DAMAGE TOTALS £50,000 MELBOURNE, October 27. (Received Oct. 27, at 10.30 p.m.) Damage amounting to £50,000 was done by a fire which broke out in the premises of Messrs Sharp and Sons, timber merchants of South Melbourne, this morning. The case factory was completely destroyed. Fanned by a strong wind, the flames swept across the road °and destroyed a store owned by the Austral Waste Products Company, a subsidiary to Australian Paper Mil's. The flames also menaced the premises of Holden’s Motor Body Works, which were saved after a five-hour battle by firemen.
