SPRING MEETING OPENED BIG RACE TO ARCTIC KING - PELMET WINS THE STAKES (Per United Press Association) WELLINGTON, October 26. The Wellington Racing Club’s spring meeting was opened at Trentham to-day in steady rain from the south, hut the weather lifted soon after the start, the remainder of the day being fine, though cold. The attendance was only fair. The track was soft and slow. The totalisator handled £21,745 (win £10.817, place £10,928), an increase of £4BB on the correspotiding day last year.
