Never Better Tempest was never better than he is at present; and it would occasion no surprise if he beat the better-fancied War Buoy in lie Weston Handicap at Oamaru. Should Be Favourite The Oamaru Jubilee Handicap is not going to be easy to win, but Graham Direct will probably be one of the favourites, and tins consistent pacer should go very close to getting the best end of the stake. Half-brother to Gyrate Included in the field for the Improvers’ Handicap at Oamaru to-day is Highrate, a five-year-old gelding by Guy Parrish from Glade, consequently a half-brother to that good trotter Gyrate. A Promising Sort Royal Romance, who is engaged in the first race at Oamaru, is a promising four-year-old by Native King from Logan Lass. She ig trained by M. Holmes. Walter Gay At the Otago Hunt Club’s meeting Walter Gay finished second to Donalda ■and on that form he appears to hold a chance in the Labour Handicap at Gore tp-day. American Importation A horse that is likely to he scrutinised closely when the field for the Trial Handicap at Oamaru lines out is Gallant Knight, one of Mr J. R. M'Kenzie’s American importations. He is a five-year-old ~by Mr M'Elwyn from Etta Day. The Oamaru Meeting The Oamaru Club has been favoured with an exceptionally good lot of acceptances for its jubilee meeting, which will be held to-day, the fields including several New Zealand Cup candidates and the two Australian pacers Evicus and Emilius Way.

Credit Funds At the Mefthven meeting. Credit Funds put in a good finishing run in the Westward Ho Handicap to finish third to Trireme and Golden Miller. In the Trial Handicap at Oamaru to-day Credit Funds meets Golden Miller on the same terms, hut she has improved since tjien, and should be one of the hardest to beat.
