DANCE RECITAL

His Majesty’s Theatre was packed on Saturday afternoon and evening when the pupils of Mr Stan Lawson presented the final performances of his first dance recital. 'The high standard reached by all the performers was a tribute to the ability of Mr Lawson, and it was evident that no effort had been spared to make the recital a successful one. The costumes were one of the most striking features of the entertainment, being colourful and spectacular throughout. The dances were all arranged and invented by Miss Rosetta Powell and Mr Lawson, who are to be congratulated on the originality and cleverness of the large variety of the numbers. Every branch of the art was fully covered by the talented pupils, who were obviously trained to a high degree of efficiency. Tlie accompaniments were played by a capable orchestra under the leadership of Miss Sybil Baker.
