“A LITTLE SOMETHING!”

TO THE EDITOR. Sir, —I believe that a large section of the public is not aware that Mrs R. S. Black, in her capacity as the Democrat candidate for Dunedin North, has a good backing of most of the local bodies, such as the Plunket Society, the Society, for the Prevention of Cruelty to Women and Children, etc., etc. Now, as some people are prejudiced against a woman candidate, I would just mention that it is said of the late Mrs M’Combs that, no matter what fracas was going on in the House of Parliament, the effect of her entrance was similar to that of pouring oil on troubled waters. A woman iu Parliament would be, I should say, “ as the little bit of leaven in the lump of dough,” and if we still do not want a woman candidate, think of the party she represents, and as we have so long been under the thumb (to put it mildly) of the present Government, now is our chance to see what the Democrat Party, if returned, can and will do as a better Government. Let ns all, as sensible people, sit down and think it out for ourselves, and then vote wisely, and well.—l am, etc., Frankly Democrat.
