GIFT TO HOSPITAL
EQUIPMENT FOR THEATRE MR SALTZMAN’S GENEROSITY The secretary of the Otago Hospital Board, Mr John Jacobs, has received the following communication from Mr S. Saltzman, of 103 George street; “ Further to my conversation with the medical superintendent and yourself regarding a donation I propose making, I am now willing, with the approval of your board, to make a gift of approximately £IOOO for the purpose of providing all the equipment for the eye, ear, nose and throat theatre in the new administrative block at the Dunedin Hospital. “The conditions of the gilt are: (1) The theatre must be fully equipped by my donation. (2) The equipment must be the latest procurable. “ I appreciate and approve your suggestion that the theatre be named ‘ The Samuel Saltzman Theatre/ “ I have resided in Dunedin for the past 20 years, and 1 now feel it both a privilege and a moral obligation to do something in a tangible manner for the benefit of the citizens of Dunedin and surrounding districts which will alleviate the sufferings and distress to some small degree.”
