HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES
FINAL RUSH OF BUSINESS (From Our Parliamentary Reporter) WELLINGTON, October 25. An end-of-session rapidity that would have been impossible a week ago marked the proceedings of the House of Representatives again to-day. Measures which in the 'earlier stages of the session would have provoked a long and weary discussion were passed in quick succession, nine Government Bills and one local Bill being put through all their stages. These were the Land and Income Tax Amendment Bill, the Reserves and Other Lands Disposal Bill, the Government Railways (Wellington to Johnsonville) Bill, the Tobacco Growing Industry Bill, the Native Purposes Bill, the Trustee Amendment Bill, the Rural Mortgagors Final Adjustment Amendment Bill, the Transport Licensing Amendment Bill, the Native Housing Bill, and a local Bill concerning the Wellington Tramway services. The Supplementary Estimates mane their appearance early in the evening and evoked sofne discussion, and later there appeared the three final measures the Second Finance Bill, the Housing Survey Bill, and the Appropriation Bill. Little more than a quorum was present in the House during the evening, most of the members having hastened away to commence their election -campaigns. (Left Sitting.)
