ST. MATTHEW’S CHOIR
Members of the St. Matthew’s Choir arranged an enjoyable gathering of its members, and leaders of the church in the hall on Thursday evening. Musical items were contributed by Miss E. Moss and a vocal duet by Mrs and Miss P. Crooke. Games were also indulged in. During the evening the choir master (Mr Axe] Newton) took the opportunity to bid farewell to one of the most popular of the young members, Miss Phyllis Crooke, who will leave shortly for Greymouth, where she is to commence training as a nurse in the Grey River Hospital. Mr Newton handed her a handsome wristlet watch, a gift from the members of the choir and friends, and paid a high tribute to her faithful service and loyalty during the last three years.- Mr A. Burse, secretary, also wished her every success and happiness. Miss Crooke responded gracefully and thanked all her friends for their good wishes and kindness.
