DYING MAN’S LAST WISH

Mr George Merrick Fowler, aged 82, of the Manor House, near Oxford, a former High Sheriff of Oxfordshire, died in a London nursing home recently—only 48 hours after he had been married. His doctors had advised an operation, and Mr Fowler expressed a wish that his wedding should take place before the operation was performed. He was married to Miss Lilian Alice Roe, an old friend. Next day his bride took him to the nursing home, where he died before the operation could be carried out. Mr Fowler’s former wife died last December. He had served in all parts of Ceylon, in both revenue and judicial appointments, and received the C.M.G.
