SUMMER SHOW POSTPONED
CLASH WITH ELECTION DAY A. AND P. SOCIETY’S DECISION At a. special meeting of the committee of the Otago A. and P. Society yesterday it was decided to postpone the show until Cup Week in February, the dates fixed being February 11 and 12. The president (Mr R. T. Kirk) occupied the chair at the meeting, and there were also present: Messrs J. Mitchell, J. N. Murdoch, R. Gawn, J. B. Blair, J. E. Brunton, B. S. Irwin, Edgar C. Hazlett, J. Young, A. Johnson, W. 0. M'Kellar, J. Mosley, S. Bowman, and J. M. Fraser. At last month’s meeting a resolution was passed that, in the event of the general election date falling on November 27, the show should be held a week earlier, on November 19 and 20. It was found that there would be a difficulty in securing a half-holiday for the proposed dates, and it was considered that it would be unfair to the public to hold a show on election day. It was, therefore, decided, after full consideration, to postpone the show until Cup Week in February. A suggestion was made that Cup Week should be made a carnival week for Otago. Members expressed the opinion that the society had been placed in a very awkward position, and appealed to the public for generous support of the Autumn Show.
