SWIMMING CARNIVAL
Monday night’s swimming carnival is being looked forward to, as sailors from H.M.S. Dunedin will be appearing in a number of evente, including a special novelty burlesque. Three of them will contest the diving event, in which some of Otago’s best-known competitors will be engaged. Two teams from H.M.S. Dunedin will also appear in the relay, in which 18 teams from the Kiwi, Dunedin, Zenith, Kaikorai, St. Kilda, and St. Clair Clubs will be taking part. Walter Jarvis (the New Zealand 100 yards and 220 yards champion). S. W. Jarvis (the New Zealand intermediate triple champion), J. D. O’Driscoll (national half-mile champion), and other leading swimmers will contest the 100 Yards Inter-club event, and in the Ladies’ 100 Yards much interest will attache to the performance of the ex-New Zealand junior and intermediate champion, Mise P. Sporle, of Manawatu. G. P. Chambers (New Zealand junior boys’ breaststroke record holder) and H. Callender (Otago intermediate championl will be on the scratch marl: in the 66 2-3 Yards Breaststroke for Juniors and Intermediates, which should provide fine racing. There will be an amusing punt fight in which the eailoip will compete. A thoroughly enjoy aide night's sport should be witnessed. All sailors in uniform will be admitted free.
