Arch Druid Bro. Harbour presided over the fortnightly meeting of the Otago Lodge last Monday and had the pleasure of a large attendance of members. After routine business four candidates presented themselves for initiation, and after election were admitted into the Order with a good rendering of the ceremony by the Arch Druid and his officers. A most successful Dutch auction was held, with gifts from the members, and under the control of a versatile auctioneer with a willing assistant, the proceeds, which will go to the children’s Christmas fund, were quite satisfactory. Bro. Thyne, Oamaru. responded to the visitors’ toast. The Royal Arch Chapter agreed to November 4 as the date for the debate, A.D. Bro. Esplin presided over the fortnightly meeting of Pride of Mornington Lodge, No. 14, UA.O.D., on October 17, a good muster of members being in attendance. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed and correspondence received. One new member was proposed. The programme for the evening was a cribbage challenge with Mistletoe. which resulted in a win for the home team by 17 to 8, Mornington thus retaining the shield. The Olive Branch Juvenile Lodge held its anniversary, when A.D. Bro. K. Connell presided over a good attendance, including visitors. Official visits were received from Bro. Tyrrell, president of the council, and Installing Officer Bro, G. Wilson, V.P., also from D.P. Bro, Patterson, of No. 1 District. A candidate sought admission and was received into the Order, the ceremony being carried out in a creditable manner. The guardian announced the arrival of the installing officers, Bros. Wilson and Bradshaw (assistant). Bro. Calder and his officers were duly installed in their respective chairs. A vote of thanks was accorded to these brethren for the fine rendering of the various charges, and the advice given. Supper was handed round, and the toasts were responded to bv the visitors. Bro. Tyrrell addressed the officers on their various duties, which was well* received. Two candidates were reported for next night by Superintendent Bro. Morris.
