ARMED GATHERINGS

SUPPRESSION IN FRANCE BILL MAY BE INTRODUCED LONDON, October 23. (Keceived Oct. 24, at 1 a.m.) The Daily Telegraph's Paris correspondent says: "M. Laval is immedi ately taking action to check armed gatherings of Fascists and Communists, especially prohibiting ' test mobilisations,' in which fleets of aeroplanes and motor cars would be used. It is expected that a Bill to suppress gatherings will be made law by a decree. These measures are essential owing to the increasing activities of the Croix de Feu, comprising 300,000 members, which has repeatedly assembled large forces in Paris and other towns, including the occupation of a bridge in South Paris on October 20 for the purpose of testing plant, for marching on the capital. The Communists recently mobilised 1000 men, and using sirens they marched to the spot where the Croi* de Feu was demonstrating, resulting ir a fight in which 25 were injured.
