BUILDING TRADE

GREAT ACTIVITY IN ENGLAND (Special to Daily Times) AUCKLAND, October 23. The continued activity in the building trade in England was referred to by business men who arrived in Auckland to-day by the Rangitiki from London. Mr C. V. Houghton, of Auckland, said the undoubted improvement in trade wasbeing reflected in a tremendous advance in building. At Dagenham, in Essex, a housing programme was being prosecuted to provide 20,000 dwellings for the accommodation of the people from London's congested areas. Mr G. S. Radley, of Christchurch. said that in 1930 peopie in England predicted that the building boom could not \a ;t for more than three years. The trad' however, was just as active to-day as it was in 1930. Streets of houses in favoured localities were being sold before one brick had been laid.
