MOSGIEL HIGH SCHOOL

CROSS-COUNTRY RACE The annual Cross-country Race for tha challenge cup presented by Mr, J. F. Frew to the secondary department of the Mosgiel District High School was held on Tuesday last over a course of approximately two miles and a-quarter, similar to that of previous years. A large attendance of the public witnessed the race. A field of over 30 boys faced the starter, Mr W. T. 0. Kaye. A limit boy, Allan Thomson, managed to keep the lead until, almost on the tape, he was overtaken by M'Gregor, who put on a fine spurt and came in one second ahead of Thomson—a splendid effort on the part of both boys. Lindsay (120 sec) was third, G. Thomson (70sec) fourth, and Morrison (scr) fifth. Others finishing were Fleming, Freeman, Kaye, M'Nutt, Young, and 15 others. The fastest time was put up by Morrison, whose actual time was JUmin 32sec, with. Fleming (lOsec) second, in 14min 44see, and M'Gregor, third, 14min 45sec. The team results for the race were: Form 111 (General) 1. Form V2, and Form VI and Form IV (equal) 3.
