Wednesday, October 23. (Before Mr J. R. Bartholomew, S.M.) DRUNKENNESS. Alice Twist appeared on a charge of drunkenness, and, on the application of Senior Sergeant Packer, who stated that she was at present unable to plead, was lemanded for a week for medical treatment. BREAKING AND ENTERING. Frederick Loadcs, who was represented by Mr J. B. Thomson, was charged with having, by night, bioken and entered the premises of Guy Winchester Knight at Waikouaiti, and stolen goods valued at £44 Is lid.—The complainant gave evidence of having, on the morning of August 13, found that a door leading into his store" had been broken open, a subsequent examination of the stock revealing that the goods mentioned in the charge had been stolen. —Detective Russell stated that on October 20 he had arrested the accused, who, when taken to the detective office, had made a statement admitting the oll'ence. —The accused pleaded guilty and was committed to the Supreme Court for sentencs.
