THE TASMAN FLYER

THREAT OF PROSECUTION

FLEW WITHOUT CERTIFICATE

(United Press Association) (By Electric Telegraph—Copyright)

CANBERRA, October 23. (Received Oct. 23, at 11.30 p.m.)

Replying to a question in the House of Representatives, Mr R. A. Pa.khill (Minister of Defence) said that the airman O'Hara would be prosecuted if he flew back to Australia from New Zealand. The Government had reported to the New Zealand Government O'Hara's infringement of the International Air Convention regulations in flying a machine without a certificate of airworthiness, and the Dominion Government, being a member of the Air Convention, as was Australia, would probably take action against O'Hara.

HIS NEW ZEALAND DESTINATION

A MISAPPREHENSION EXPLAINED.

(Pek United Press Association) AUCKLAND. October 23.

The misapprehension which seemed to have arisen concerning the destination of Mr W. M. O'Hara, the New Zealand aviator, when hd made his Tasman flight last week, was the subject of comment by the airman to-day in responding to a toast at a complimentary dinner tendered to him by the pilots of the Auckland Aero Club at the Mangere aerodrome.

Mr O'Hara said he had at no time intended landing at New Plymouth, although before he left Australia he had been invited to land there. He made for Mount Egmont on account of its being so conspicuous a landmark, and had stated that if he made hie landfall south of New Plymouth he would circle over the town on his flight to Auckland. His reason for wishing to land at Auckland was that first he was a New Zealander and secondly an Aucklander.
