SOUTHLAND'S FINE RECORD
fPER United Press Association)
INVERCARGILL, October 23,
The manager of the Orepuki factory, Mr J. S. Morrison, has set a fine standard for his district. His is a email factory, its output being about 225 tons, and this was only the second time it had entered. Previously it was a proprietary concern and it was not eligible until it became a co-operative factory over two years ago. Mr Morrison is a young manager, this being Ills third year in that capacity. Previously he was first assistant at Orepuki. This factory was not placed last year, and since the district is not considered one of the province's best its performance is full of merit. Orepuki's success brings the province's total of first placings up to seven out of nine championships awarded to date.
The cheese championship carries with it a silver challenge cup given by Lord Bledisloe for the factory with the highest points from any part of the Empire, and the challenge cup for New Zealand factories, which was also given by Lord Bledisloe. Southland has now won both for the three years during which they have been competed for.
