AEROPLANE CRASH

AN AMERICAN MACHINE DEATH OF THE CO-PILOT (United Press Association) (By Electric Telegraph—Copyright) NEW YORK, October 21. (Received Oct. 22, at 10 p.m.) At Troy Ruth Nichols and her co-pilot, Captain Harry Hublitch, were seriously injured and burned when a giant commercial transport they were taking aloft caught fire and crashed. The four passengers were only slightly injured. At the hospital it was said that Miss Nichols and Captain Hublitch had only a fair chance of surviving. MOTOR APPARENTLY FAILED NEW YORK, October 21. (Received Oct. 22, at 10 p.m.) Captain Hublitch died at midnight The plane tore through two trees an I was completely wrecked. Miss Nichols was flung 25 feet from the wreckage, and Captain Hublitch was likewise thrown clear.

The left motor of the plane apparently failed and the ship was headed back, but dropped suddenly and was caught in the trees.
