FACILITIES FOR VOTING

TE ANAU-MILFORD ROAD WORKERS ASSURANCE BY MINISTER (Fbom Odb Parliamentabt Repobter) WELLINGTON, October 22. Facilities will be provided for men working on the Te Anau-Milford road to vote at the general election. An assurance to this effect has been received by Mr F. Jonee from the Minister of Public Works, Mr J. Bitchener, who states that the district engineer has been requested to confer with the returning officer for the electorate regarding the provision of polling booths on the To Anau-Milford Sound road. All the men will be allowed sufficient time off, according to the distance to be travelled, to record their votes at the nearest polling booth, and in accordance with the usual custom on public" works, the day wages men will be paid for such time. Cooperative contractors,, however, will not be paid. The men now being engaged for work at the Milford end of the road will be conveyed by steamer from Bluff at the Government's expense, and arrangements are being made for a polling booth at Milford Sound.
