(SrECiAL to Daily Times) AUCKLAND, October 22. Some smart gallops were recorded at Lllerslic to-day, when the £O. 1 grass and the tan were used for galloping. Hie going was good on both tracks, and conditions were favourable except tor a fairly stiff breeze. . Calientc's round on the tan in limn 52sec was a good effort. _ Bayora and Teddy Boy sprinted half a mile in 50 3-ssec, with little between them at the finish. Bayora displays a nice turn of speed, and Teddy Boys loiirth m the Normanby Handicap, won by Mazir, on the second day of. the recent spring meeting was encouraging. Pasha and Gay Defence were both running on nicely at the end of five furlongs in lmin 4 l-ssec. Pasha, whose operation for respiratory trouble appears to have been a success, benefited by the race he had at the spring meeting. Gay Defence went with his usual freedom, and should be dangerous at Cambridge if he runs up to track form. Vera Acre and King Mestor ran the last five of six furlongs in lmin 4sec. Although lightly weighted, Vera Acre went pleasingly for a novice, and Ji. b. Groat may be able to place her to advantage at some of the coming meetings if she retains her present rate of prob Baroscope worked steadily over a round. Lady Diana assisting him over the last half-mile. There was no pace on early, but Baroscope quickened speed at the live furlongs and went very freely. Gaseille and Green Patch encompassed a round in lmin 50 l-ssce, the last haltmile in 52 3-ssec. Gaseille, who covered a good deal of ground, infused a lot ot dash info his work, and seems 1o have benefited bv his recent racing. He is to contest the Hunters' Hurdles at Cambridge on Monday, and should have excellent prospects. Haputfjc was slightly in front of Docility when three furlongs had been completed ill 30 l-osoc. These youngsters both have plenty of size, and are making steady progress. Haputale displays a nice turn of sliced, and should have prospects when lie is more forward. On the tan Caliente (Walsh) went soundly over a round in lmin 52sec, Enlightenment assisting her over the last six furlongs in lmin 2(!sec. Caliente is lookins a picture, and her solid condition should assist her on Saturday in the Wellington Handicap, in which she is likely to take a lot of beating. Enlightenment also worked nicely, and seems to be becoming a little more solid.
