(Per United Press Association) NAPIER, August 24. Taking into consideration the recommendation of the jury, Mr Justice Reed, in the Napier Supreme Court, this morning sentenced William James Tait, aged 24, to three years’ probation on two charges of breaking and entering and tllfift / WAIPUKURAU, August 24. A severe gale is raging in central Hawke’s Bay, and as a result of trees falling across the lines in various parts of the town and countryside the power supply has been interrupted; also some telephone communications. WELLINGTON, August 24. All obstacles concerning the road and bridge at Paremata to give direct access to -Plimmerton by road have now been ovcieome, and the Public Works Department has accepted the tender of M. G. Templeton of £9787 9s 6d. This does not include the steel which is to be supplied by the department. The bridge will be ready within 12 months, and the road has been declared a main highway. The bridge will be of nine spans, on concrete piers, of 22ft, with footways of four feet on either side.
