BEST DESIGN FOR LINERS LONDON, August 18. The Daily Telegraph’s aeronautical correspondent says that the Air Ministry has withdrawn its offer of £25,000 for the best design of a high-speed mediumsized air liner after consultation with the heads of the aircraft industry, who say they are too busy as the result of Air Force expansion orders. FLIGHT ABANDONED CALCUTTA, August 19. (Received August 19, at 11.3 C p.tn.) ‘ Mr Chapman has abandoned his flight and he will return to England to-morrow by air mail aeroplane. Mr F. B. Chapman, an R.A.F. officer, intended to fly to Australia and back during a month’s holiday.
