NO SIGN OF DAMAGE

NIAGARA ARRIVES AT AUCKLAND CALMNESS OF CREW PRAISED. • (Per United Press Association) AUCKLAND, August 19. Showing no sign of her collision with the motor ship King Egbert, near Victoria on July 17, the liner Niagara reached Auckland to-day. She was delayed for 14 days at Victoria for repairs. Captain T. V. Hill had little to say, but appeared gratified that the Wreck Commission which inquired had found that there bad been no negligence by either vessel. He said that intermittent fog was experienced just before the crash, but five minutes afterwards one could see for five or six miles. What saved the position was that both ships were travelling slowly. The passengers paid a unanimous tribute to the prompt action and calmness of the crew.
