TELEGRAPHIC CHESS
AUCKLAND BEATS WELLINGTON The telegraphic chess match played between Auckland and Wellington last Saturday resulted in a win for Auckland, agreement .being reached on Saturday concerning uncompleted games. It is Auckland's first telegraphic chess win for some years, and means that the team will contest the final for the Bledisloe Cup, probably against Christchurch. In last year's play-off Wellington defeated Dunedin. , , , , .i, . , When play was concluded last Saturday onlv five of the 20 games were completed, and the final result was a matter of arrangement between the captains of the teams. Accordine to the final decision, Auckland had four wins and Wellington two, the other 14 games being drawn. The Auckland winners were D. I. Jones, R. E. Bayertz, I. Biirry, Dr Short. Those who drew were 11. Addis, J. Buclian, W. 11. Hughes, C. G. Leonard. G. Sale, H. Lees, D. G. Gallagher, E. King, F. 11. Jeffreys, C. B. Newick. J. Adkins, R. Barker, Mrs Short. 11. Oakley Browne.
