BAD SMASH IN RACE

(United Press Association) (By Electric Telegraph—Copyright) SYDNEY, July 24. (Received July 24, at 10.15 p.m.) Sis horses near the rear of the field crashed during the running of the Maiden Handicap for three and four-year-olds at Rosehill. One horse, Booral. broke his back and was killed, while another, Blighty, fractured a leg and had to be destroyed. There were 25 runners in the race. The jockeys who were injured were W. Gates, concussion and shock; J. M'Evoy, broken collarbone; H. Zensky, dislocated shoulder; R. Marsden and R. Skelton, injuries to the back. The stewards' inquiry into the accident has been adjourned until the jockeys are fit to give evidence.
