PALMERSTON Dramatic Society There was a good attendance at the monthly meeting of the local Dramatic Society on Tuesday 1 evening. An interesting programme, arranged by Mr C. H. Cook, was presented, and the following four plays were iead by members:— " They Went Forth,"' " Campbell of Kilmhor," " Kanawa," and " Progress." Mi Cook presided at the meeting. Inter-school Rugby A Rugby football team from the Otago Boys' High School travelled to Palmerston yesterdax to play the annual fixture against the local school. Although the score stood 6 —all at half time, the miters showed their superiority in the second spell, and won by 15 points to 6. Hospital Committee The annua] meeting of the Palmerston Hospital Committee was presided over by Mr W. S. Sheat. It was reported that 62 babies were born during the past year in the institution. The Dunedin Hospital Board advised that it had appointed the following menv bers to the committee:—Mesdamjjs H Forrest, F. C. A. Galloway (secretary), E. M'Kenney, Miss Jl. M'Ritchie,: Messrs H, S. Sheat, W. C. Arkle, W. B. GalloC. W. Hallmn, J. Preston, and G. Ross. Mr Sheat thanked the members of the committee for their co-operation during the past year. Mr H. Sheat was re-elected chairman. A vote of thanks was passed to the secretary (Mrs W. B. Galloway), who has been honorary secretary for the past 11 years.

Golf The M'Grath Cup competition, conducted by the Ranfurly Golf Club, hr.s now reached the semi-final stage. The results of the matches played on Saturday are as follows:—E. K. Halstead beat E. Hammond 5 up and 4, E W. East beat W. M'Kenzie 5 and 3, G.' Gil- • bert beat M. Mirfin 1 vp. Miniature Rifle Shooting The weekly shoot of the Ranfurly Miniature Rifle Club was held on day evening. There was a good attendance of members. W. Aitken again won - the Hansen button for the best score off the rifle, while the handicap button was won by A. Carson.
