The North Otago Club ia having a very active season, and during the past month has run two very successful meetings. The first was the Storey Cup, and with it was run a maiden stake. The second was the Sewell Cup,- held last Saturday.

Mr Wise occupied the judge's box for the last two meetings at Oamaru, and his prompt decisions met with the approval of owners and spectators alike. G. Smart, who won the Sewell Cup at Oamaru last Saturday, has been a coursing enthusiast for the past 58 years, and this is the first time he has had the pleasure of leading in a cup winner. Even Lad was unfortunate in running five courses in two rounds of the Sewell Cup, three of which were undecided, and A. Rennie withdrew him in the semifinal.

The New Zealand Waterloo, which was run at Hamilton last week, was- won by Rhodesia (J. Hannan), with Father Emerson (Mr C. Harley) runner-up. The coursing was good, but the weather was very bad.

The South Otago Coursing Club has postponed the Guest Cup meeting from July 27 until August 24. The selectors of the dogs to represent the South Otago Club at Oamaru on August 2 and 3 at the South Island Challenge Stakes, to be controlled this vear by the Dunedin Club, report that Miss G. Sinclair's Homdale, J. M'Grath's Terminus Lass, J. Gold's Black and Why Parade have been chosen.

Mr Price, the selector for the Dunedin Club, announced that Mr Hammond's Vanity Fair, Mrs Connor's Paddy's Lass; Mrs F. Robertson's Hall Mark, and Mr G. Millar's Bold Brigand will represent the club.

G. Smart's Winiata, who has been performing well recently, will be one 1 of the Oamaru representatives. A. E. Smith's Golden Worry, who has been improving this season, has now reached his top form, and on hie last two appearances secured first money. He will probably be one of the Southland Club's representatives at Oamaru. Checkers, who has had only two runs this season, is still on the injured list, as his front leg still gives him trouble. Wilga White has not yet recovered from her hard course in the first round of the Telford Memorial Cup, and has been withdrawn from the Challenge Cup. When J. Hannan won the Waterloo on Saturday with Rhodesia he registered his eighth win in this event.
