BRITISH EMPIRE GAMES GOVERNMENT GUARANTEE SYDNEY, July 23, (Received July 23, at 11.30 p.m.) The New South Wales Government to-day agreed to provide a guarantee for £IO,OOO for the British Empire Games to be held in Sydney in January, 1938, coinciding with the 150th anniversary of the State. It is proposed to include in the programme track and field games, swimming, , diving, cycling,, boxing, wrestling, bowls and sculling. For the time being the question of women’s sports has been shelved. SHIPPING AGENT FINED SYDNEY, July 23. (Received July 21, at 0.30 a.m.) Fines aggregating £7OO were to-day imposed qn B. Wiltshire, a _ shipping agent, on seven charges of being agent for vessels from which prohibited immigrants had deserted. All those prohibited were Greeks. MISS HORTON’S ESTATE SYDNEY, July 23.
