POISONED CHOCOLATES

* OF BLENHEIM CASE NEW MYSTERY DEVELOPS (Peb United Press Association) BLENHEIM. July 23. Rumours are in circulation that a fresh poisoned ‘chocolate case developed at Springlands, a suburb of Blenheim, last week. The police are extremely reticent, but it is known that Detective Sinclair, of Nelson, and local officers have been pursuing inquiries for some days. It is stated that a Springlands resident received a box of chocolates, and that investigations showed that they had been tampered with; but, fortunately, as the result of the publicity given to recent cases elsewhere, none of tne sweets was consumed.

Sergeant Smythe, in charge of the local police station, when pressed for information, said he preferred to say nothing.
