NEXT WEEK’S CHARITY CONCERT The New Zealand Broadcasting Board has completed arrangements for the charity concert to be held on Wednesday next at 8 p.m. in the Town Hall. Miss Gladys Moncrieff will head_ the bill, and this will be her first public appearance in Dunedin since “Rio Rita,” and she should receive an enthusiastic welcome. Mr Gil Dech, who is Miss Moncrieff’s accompanist,,, will also take part, with piano solos, and will be the guest conductor of the augmented orchestra. Mr Walter Kingsley ,_ the English baritope, will also assist with baritone solos. Mr John Robertson, the New Zealand champion cornetist, who was such a success at the last concert, will take part in this function. ■ Mr Vincent Aspey, one of the Dominion’s leading violin soloists, will make his first public appearance in Dunedin. J/r Frank Perrin, English comedian, will provide the humour. This concert should be one of the finest entertainments that Dunedin has had for many years. More than 2000 people gave a tremendous reception to Miss Gladys Moncrieff when she made her appearance in Wellington at the charity concert on July 11, and from the numerous inquiries received at the box office, it is almost certain that the Town Hail will be packed next Wednesday. The price of admission will be 2s and Is, and all seats can be reserved without tax or booking fee. The box plan arrangements are advertised. The proceeds will be for the Mayor's Relief Fund.
