AWAPUNI TRACK WORK
(Per United Press Association) PALMERSTON N., July 23. The tracks at Awapuni were in good order this morning when the candidates for the Manawutu winter meeting galloped with the flags well out on the course proper.
Hunting Lodge and Round Score, with substantial weights up ran seven furlongs in train 37sec, the Hist five in train 7sec. Round Score ran to the front at the top of the straight, but Hunting Lodge again was on terms at the post. Note Issue cantered round to the three furlongs post to come home over the last three furlongs in 40 3-ssec. Cyclopean ran the last two of three furlongs in 26 2-ssec. Evasion jumped away at the seven furlongs peg, Full Throttle picking her up a furlong later, the pair running six furlongs in Imin 23 2 ssec. Full Throttle was travelling nicely throughout. The Lavish and Kinsfolk two-year-olds ran two furlongs in 26sec, and later Dawning Light alone ran the distance in 25sec. The first-named pair, however, got away from practically a flat-footed start.
Hunting Jay did an easy seven furlongs in Imin 45sec. Frugal, Hilton Gorse and Kitty Quinn finished in that order after running five furlongs in Imin !!sec. The Moose shaded Petrarch, with Te Rangitumau close up at the end of five furlongs in Imin lOsec. Happy Hunting strode over six furlongs in Imin 23 l-ssec, the first three in 40 4-ssec. Gold Cure and Treasure Hunt ran seven furlongs in Imin 38 4-osec, the first halfmile in 57 2-ssec. The latter was a shade in front at the,close, but had the better of the weights. Bazaine registered the smartest five furlongs of the morning, running it in Imin 7 4-oscc, the first two in 26 3-ssec.
