GLADYS MONCRIEFF

APPEARANCE AT CHARITY CONCERT A concert which should be much appreciated by Dunedin music lovers will take place on July 31 in the Town Hall. Miss Gladya Moncrieff, known as the “ queen of musical comedy,” will head the bill, and she should receive a warm welcome. Miss Moncrieff has received a great reception in other towns in New Zealand, and the audiences have been loath to let her leave the stage. Mr Gil Dech, the pianist and conductor, in addition to playing Miss Moncrioff’s accompaniments, will be the conductor of an augmented orchestra, which will play Maori selections composed by himself. He will also play piano solos. Mr Walter Kingsley, the English baritone, will be heard in a selection of songs. Mr John Robertson, the popular New Zealand cornet champion, will also appear. At the last concert he received a wonderful ovation, and he should be a big attraction. Mr Vincent Aspey, one of the Dominion’s leading violin soloists, will make hie first public appearance to a Dunedin audience, and, no doubt, will bo well received. Mr Frank I’crrin (humorist) will also take part in this concert. The New Zealand Broadcasting Board deserves the support of the public for arranging what promises to be such an outstanding concert. The proceeds will be for the Mayor’s Relief Fund. The prices of admission will be 2s and Is, and the box plan arrangements are advertised.
