(Per United Press Association) AUCKLAND, July 22. During the height of the storm early this morning burglars broke into the warehouse portion of the Onehunga Woollen Mills factory in Onehunga and stole rugs and blankets valued at nearly £IOO. It was the fourth thieving raid on the same premises * during the last three years. HAMILTON, July 22. In the Magistrate’s Court to-day, John Henry Mahood was fined £5 on each of two charges of failing to report an accident and failing to stop. The defendant pleaded guilty. According to the police the defendant was driving a truck between Cambridge and Hamilton when he knocked down Ernest Tapp, who was walking on the road, causing severe injuries and driving on. His .conduct was described as extremely callous. Counsel for the defence said that Mahood had three young men as companions, all of whom were under the influence of liquor. Mahood, himself, was sober, but feared if he stopped he might have been arrested for being intoxicated when in charge of a vehicle.

Extensive inquiries were made locally this afternoon concerning the whereabouts of the airman, Air Whitehead, who left Greymouth this morning for Blenheim and had not reported late this afternoon. Word was received that Mr Whitehead had landed at Westport and would proceed to Blenheim to-morrow.
