OTAGO BOWLING CLUB

ANNUAL MEETING The annual meeting of the Otago Bowling Club, Ltd., was held on Saturday night. There was a good attendance, presided over by Mr W. J. Crawford (president). The chairman referred to the deaths of four members—Messrs E. T. Falconer, J. Brady, R. M'Adam, and A. Stone-; during the year, and a motion of sympathy was passed, those present standing in silence. ANNUAL REPORT. Moving the adoption of the annual report, the chairman said it was pleasing to note that, despite some extra expenditure, the club had improved its financial position during the year. After the season had concluded some work had been done on the green, and it was anticipated that next season it would present an even finer surface than in previous seasons. The past season had been a pleasant one, and all had an enjoyable year's play, despite the fact that the club did not meet with any considerable success in the intev-i'lub competitions. Ho extended the club's congratulations to Mr J. D. Best, the winner of the Champion of Champions contest. The chairman also thanked the club's ofScials for their whole-hearted support during the past year, the season having been one of the happiest in the club's history. The motion was seconded by Mr C. Beaaley and carried. ELECTION OF OFFICERS. The election of officers was then held, the following appointments being made: —President, Mr J. Henderson; vice-president, Mr J. D. Best; directors —Messrs C. R. Smith, A. Ellison, H. Cook, D. Rose, P. W. Stabb, and A. Gascoigne; secretary, Mr T. M. Gillies; selector, Mr W. Callendar; auditor, Mr J. Ironside; delegates to centre —Messrs H. Cook and W. Callendar; green supervisor, Mr W. Crawford. GENERAL. It was decided to carry out the following competitions:—Club ties, Championship Singles,. Handicap Singles (one life), Club Pairs (three bowls and. 16 heads), Adess Shield, and Four-rink Championship. The delegates to the centre were instructed to vote against the introduction of a championship pairs competition. Remits to be brought before the meeting of the Dunedin Centre in connection with the alteration of the system of scoring in Saturday matches were generally discussed, and the delegates were given a free hand in the matter. A Social Committee, consisting of Messrs Best, Cook, Shepherd, M'Connell, and Teinpleton, was appointed.
