CHARITY CONCERT
GLADYS MONCRIEFF TO APPEAR. Arrangements are •well in hand for the charity concert, to be held in the Town Hall on July 31. This presentation is being arranged by the New Zealand Broadcasting Board, and the proceeds will be for the Mayor's Relief Fund. With sucn oustanding artists as Miss Gladys Moncrieff, Mr Gil* Dech, Mr Walter Kingsley, Mr Frank Perrin, Mr Vincent Aspey, the New Zealand violinist, and the popular New Zealand cornetist, Mr John Robertson, it should prove one of the most popu-
lar concerts that has ever been held here. Gladys Monerieff is regarded by many as the leading Australian musical comedy soprano, and she should receive an enthusiastic welcome when she'appears at the Town Hall. Lieteners-in would hear the great reception Wellington accorded her on her appearance at the New Zealand Broadcasting Board's concert, held there on July 1.1. While Miss Monerieff will be the principal attraction at the Dunedin concert, the rest of the performers are of an exceptionally high standard. Mr Gil Dech. who is making his first appearance in Dunedin, is well kuown through his records, .and he should receive a warm welcome. Mr Dech will play all Miss Moncrieff's accompaniments. Mr Walter Kingsley, the English baritone, seenis always to be a favourite with audiences, and Mr John Robertson, the New Zealand cornetist, was the star attraction at the last concert, and his numbers should again be appreciated. Mr Vincent Aspey, one of the Dominion's leading violin soloists, will make his first public appearance in Dunedin: Mr Frank Perrin will provide the humour. When these artists gave a similar concert in Wellington last week, the house was packed out, hundreds could not gain admission. It will be advisable for intending patrons to book, so as to avoid disappointment. The box plan arrangements are advertised.
