ASSOCIATION FOOTBALL

TO THE EDITOR Sib,—Like many followers of the soccer ' code, I am at a loss to understand the attitude of the authorities towards Junior Grade football. For some time I have interested myself in Second Division matches, and I regret to say I have never seen a member of the Management Committee at any matches this season. No fewer than six teams were g laying on the Oval on the last two aturdays, and, in view of a likely visit of a team from Southland before the season ends, one would at least expect to see the sole selector taking a little interest in his work. His absence is being commented upon from all quarters, and in fairness to the game and those who ;fcake part.in it I think Mr Wyness should give the Otago Football Association an opportunity of appointing a selector who is prepared to follow the game and do justice to the junior players. It i 6 little wonder that our game is not progressinjr_ as it should when we find no one taking an interest in our affairs. Another matter that requires attention is the constant regrading of players from First to Second Grade. This may be termed > a legitimate " ring-in;" and another instance of the lack of interest that is taken in junior football by the Management Committee. —I am, etc.. Progress.
