INITIATORY SHIELD COMPETITION * The chief item of interest for the past fortncht has been the Initiatory Shield competition, for which Linden, Unity and Leith "Lodges entered teams. This is the first competition at which the new ritual has been used, and,'' in consequence ot the changes, a re-allocation of points was necessary. Sudden, were informed of the changes. The competition was won this year by the Unity team under Bro. T. Moore, N.G., the result being announced after the ceremony at Unity's last meeting. Unity will now hold the cup until the next competition. Announcing the result the grand secretary said that, though the competition this year did not come up to the very high standard set in previous years, it was. nevertheless, pleasing to notice that all teams contained young officers, who were taking part in the competition for the first time,' and, the experience gained would be of great value to them. Congratulating N.G. Bro. Moore and his .officers, the grand secretary, bn behalf of the judges, wished the lodge every success. It had been a pleasure to judge the contest, and he hoped that when the next competitions came along Unity would again put up a creditable performance. Bro. M. K. Glover, as coach of Linden, congratulated, the lodge on its success and said it had been a pleasure to take part in the competition, and he hoped that

next time they would again enjoy a friendly tussle for the shield. Bro. D. Stewart. N.G. Leith, also congratulated Bro. Moore and his officers and expressed the hope that the shield would prove a valuable contribution _to the interest the young officers were taking in their work.

Bro. Howie. N.G. Pioneer, and several other brothers also spoke congratulating the team. i

Bro. Moore, N.G., and Bro. Currie, V.G., suitably returned thanks. The shield will be officially presented to the winning lodge at the next district meeting. JUNIOR BRANCH MOVEMENT.

Glover, on behalf of the juniors, expressed his appreciation of the excellent entertainment, and thanked those who .by their enthusiasm and worlc were making the District Junior Committee a very effective unit in the organisation of the Order. Bro. Curry said it was a pleasure to assist such a movement, and Ids only regret was that he was unable to take a more active part. A further section of the District Junior Committee's work was carried into effect at the last meeting of the North Dunedin Junior Branch Lodge, when the D.D.G.M.. Bro. R. R. Hendry, and P.D.D.G.M.
