ROUND EGMONT ON SKATES
A SUCCESSFUL EFFORT " /' (Peb United Press Association) NEW PLYMOUTH, July 21. Stanley Mockford, of Tuakau, Auck*»:, land, on Saturday evening completed his circuit of Mount Egmont on skates. The journey of over 100 miles on.; bitumen roads was covered in four days. He had intended to sleep in sheds or in 'the open, but people en " / route took a keen interest in the exploit, and provided him with food and shelter. ' The difficulty of descending tho steeper hills was solved by tho skater securing a heavy pine branch, which he straddled and used as a brake.
