GLAYDS MONCRIEFF CONCERT

WIDE VARIETY OF PERFORMERS . On July 31, In the Town Hall, one of the best concerts that has ever been presented to a Dunedin audience should take place, when Gladys MoncrieSf and supporting artists will contribute. This is the second charity concert of the year arranged by the New Zealand Broadcasting Board, and shows every promise of being even better than the previous concerts which have taken place here. There is a bigger cast of artists in the concert, and Gladys Moncrieff, the wellknown soprano of Australia’s musical comedy, will be the star attraction of the evening. Other artists who were not in the previous concert art; Gil Dech, the celebrated pianist and conductor; Vincent Aspey, the Dominion’s leading violin soloist Prank Perrin, comedian; John Robertson, New Zealand’s brilliant cornetist, and Walter Kingsley, English baritone. The concert which took place in Wellington on July 11 was very well supported, and the following extract is from the Dominion :—“ Gladys Moncrielf, Australian musical comedy soprano, was the principal attraction, which drew a multitude to the Majestic Theatre, Wellington, and in her and many others who performed in the programme sponsored by the New Zealand Broadcasting Board for the benefit of the Mayor’s Relief Fund the packed house was far from disappointed. In almost every respect the entertainment, which was entitled ‘ Brighter and Breezier,’ might well serve as a model for the future flesh-and-blood variety in New Zealand.” The New Zealand Broadcasting Board will hold this concert for the Mayor’s Relief Fund. Already numerous requests have been made for reserves, and the box plan arrangements are advertised.
